In “Block 46”, Emily, Alexis and the killer chose Hampstead in northwest London: the first two to live, the third one to dispose of the bodies of his victims.I share that preference for Hampstead with my characters. I love its village atmosphere, its proximity to the parks: the Heath, Primrose Hill and Regents Park, and its charming pubs. The Freemasons Arms where Emily and Alexis have a drink after their visit to the crime scene on the Heath, is a relative newcomer compared to the Holly Bush, where Emily finds Pearce on his return from Falkenberg. The Holly Bush is over two hundred years! The restaurant on the first floor once hosted the studio of the English portraitist George Romney in the eighteenth century. For a more contemporary story, allegedly, Jamie Oliver, the famous British‘Naked Chef’ was frequently disturbed by pub customers when he lived opposite the Holly Bush, who were seeking something to nibble on to accompany their pint!As for the Hush restaurant, it is nestled close to the famous Oxford Street, in a maze of cobbled streets. Before the birth of my son, I often met my friends there on Fridays for an afterwork drink.
