Buchenwald

For several years, I felt the need to go searching for a piece of my family history, that of the deportation of my grandfather to Buchenwald. A need to exhume fragments of stories, to re-live his nightmares of the deportation, gather recollections of my father; I had to make those memories my own in order to better resuscitate them.
“Block 46” gave me that opportunity. Through my research, I discovered a much more atrocious, barbaric and bloody reality than that which I had been told. A reality that I have tried to capture in my novel, through the story of Erich Ebner.
